It’s a wrap! The 2018 EnterWorks Engage User Conference has concluded, but turning inspiration into transformation has just begun.

The Engage Conference is a stage for connecting members of the MDM and PIM community to share experiences from their technology and business initiatives. True to its New Orleans locale, the event conjured up an eclectic mix of educational sessions, customer stories, inspiring keynotes, and plenty of Big Easy fun on the side.

A Roadmap for Transformation

The Engage conference – which nearly tripled in size over last year – is growing at a rapid pace due to the commitment we all have to the EnterWorks family and the collaborative spirit of the community that enables mutual successes. Our conference is about the give and take of open feedback, the intellectual challenge in identifying and debating new trends, and building on the bonds of fellowship that sustain our collaborations.

Our conference agenda and speaker mix represent the reshaping of value created from core data and content programs. To kick things off, I updated the attendees on our strategy, the growth we are seeing (reflected in the tripling of attendees since last year), and what our partners are experiencing. We then turned to the conference themes of inspiration, innovation, and transformation with highlights including:

  • Keynote with Forrester Senior Analyst, Bruce Eppinger, who spoke on “Future Trends in Digital Business.” Giving a first look at the Forrester Wave for B2C Commerce and discussing the PIM Wave completed in June, Bruce spoke on how product and customer experience management are transforming the commerce and content marketplace.
  • An Innovation Panel with Louis Hernandez (Black Dragon Capital), Ken Bonning (Orion Partners and Kohl’s previously), Steven Platt (Retail Analytics Council), and Bruce Eppinger (Forrester Research). It was my pleasure to moderate this powerhouse team of industry experts as we tackled the topic of technology advances in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality.
  • An EnterWorks Enable™ 9 Showcase and Roadmap with EnterWorks CTO and VP of Products, John Jones. Customers left the presentation buzzing about how they can align their own company’s upgrade paths with EnterWorks’ strategies, and the demonstration was a game-changer for many prospects as they got an upfront look at Enable’s capabilities and competitive roadmap.
  • Stories and insights from our customers and partners! We were thrilled to welcome speakers from Mary Kay, International Market Centers, US Foods, Ecolab, and Fender. The sessions brimmed with great content; for example, Mary Kay shared a demonstration of their virtual reality tool fueled by EnterWorks PIM, and Fender gave a standing room only presentation on utilizing PIM tools to optimize your website. Our partners Amplifi, Tenzing, Amazon Web Services, Codifyd, Comma, Productsup, 1WorldSync, Insite Software, Intershop, and Early Information Science all contributed their expertise. Overall, the level of information and best practices shared by our keynotes, customers, and partners provided an extraordinary level of content that left our attendees inspired and excited for next year!

 A Conference with Heart

From its inception, Engage has been a conference with a focus on connection – at both the intellectual and personal level. In the past we’ve described Engage as a “conference with heart,” and this year was no different.

Our guests networked and bonded at memorable offsite events, and we had the unique opportunity to hear an inspirational keynote address given by Chef Jeff Henderson.

Chef Jeff shared his “streets to stove” story that details his journey of redemption from prison to award-winning celebrity chef. Speaking on “Embracing Market Change and Adapting to Seize Opportunities,” Jeff touched on EnterWorks’ Precision EatingTM concept, which highlights the importance of innovation and a willingness to adapt to the personalized needs and preferences of customers.

Chef Jeff talked about transformative life lessons and how you can change your path if you surround yourself with the right people, the right environment, and the right vision. His session was so moving that his autographed books sold out in minutes, and we had to start a queue for those who wanted a copy delivered to them after the event.

Rick Chavie

Rick Chavie was appointed CEO of EnterWorks in May 2015. He came to EnterWorks after serving as SVP, Global Solution Management with hybris and SAP’s Customer Engagement and Commerce group, where he brought together digital and physical commerce and CRM assets for seamless customer experiences. Mr. Chavie brings industry experience from his leadership roles at retailers such as The Home Depot and C&A. He brings technology experience from his role as the global marketing leader for NCR’s retail and hospitality business, and management consulting expertise from his partner roles at Deloitte and Accenture, where he served clients across retail, branded consumer and wholesale verticals. Chavie is a Harvard MBA, a Fulbright Scholar in International Trade, and a summa cum laude graduate from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. He is a noted speaker at industry events, an author on the wholesale industry, and frequently comments on commerce, marketing and customer engagement topics.
